comment Run more than one Hypervisor
I think you would be better off asking for money for an extra server to run ESXi on. Before we were really on board with a bare metal hypervisors we ran a couple servers on VMware Server and it was a nightmare. I'm betting your time is worth more than a new server. :-)

@Robert, do you want to add that as an answer so I can accept it? Do you know if the user of the computer would get an error message when this happens? The network these computers are plugged into has had multiple problems so I can see it happening. :-)

comment Strange VMWare networking issue
Have you tried rebooting the CAS server while it's on the second host? VMware sends a reverse ARP when it vmotions a VM and it's possible that your switch thinks it's still on the first host.

To clarify, you want to run the add command in a git repository outside of the current working directory?

comment How to deploy vmview from a single esx server
Hypervisor (VMware product) is a type 1 hypervisor (generic term) so it runs on the "bare metal" in lieu of an OS so if you already have an OS installed it will have to be reinstalled or converted to a VM. It's a good use of a large VM hosts because it can better manage the memory, network access, and CPU and you don't have to worry about the Host OS crashing. VMware Player is used for running VMs inside another OS and if I remember correctly, (I haven't used it) it doesn't allow you to create a new VM or edit them once they are created.

comment Best practices to handle very large databases
I'm with @jl, if you looking at ~1,000,000 rows a month you're going to want to partition the data based on month and/or week of the year. This will make it easier to store the data but it's going take additional work for the devs to write the logic to add and query the data.

What makes you think you have bad RAM? Corrupt data or random reboots?
