comment Oracle: how to find out storage space used by a table?
@Codek: correct, this is only the space used by the table itself. You can calculate the space used by the indexes by the same method however (since indexes are segments and have extents).

comment Oracle import fails due to NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE setting
It could be that even if you set NLS_LANG correctly, it won't set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT or NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT correctly. Is the failing statement a CREATE TABLE? If it is, could you run the statement before the import?

comment Oracle import fails due to NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE setting
You could edit the value in the windows registry (HKLM/SOFTWARE/Oracle/[your oracle home]/NLS_LANG)

@equinox: yes, if you can upload your file via FTP to the server you could use this method

comment import XML to Oracle 10g
@equinox: the directory object points to a directory on the server itself. You must upload your file on the server somehow: this is a server-side method, not a client-side one.

comment import XML to Oracle 10g
@equinox: You would create the directory Object in Oracle, then move the file in said directory using your operating system.

comment Oracle 11gR2: NLS_CHARACTERSET accidentally removed with an UPDATE-Query
@Marco Nätlitz: think of SYS in Oracle as root in Linux/UNIX. Would you recover from a rm -rf / :) ?
