comment Need help recovering RAID 6 array
I'm of the understanding that Seagate drives with a CC4B firmware are recommended to have their firmwares upgraded, especially if in a RAID array. I put one of your serial numbers in here and it did indeed come up with firmware needed/important: apps1.seagate.com/downloads/request.html HTH

comment Can't ping my static IP address from external network
"Obviously if I can't ping the ip address for me is impossible put up online my website". That's not true, as TCP may get through where ICMP doesn't. The best way to find out if the firewall rule for the website is working is to test the website from an external IP address.

It's 2012 and seemingly there's still no auth options. I'd not call that unfortunate I'd call it an epic fail :)

Thanks. I have the server and RAID card now so kinda academic. Looks like will all fit. I gather the H700 is single core? The H800 is, from what I can tell by Googling, the same as the LSI 9265-8i but doesn't support SATA. The server we bought has an H200 fitted with the same cables as the 9265 so I'll either remove that and replace with the LSI or just unplug it and use the cables. Will post an answer when I know for sure how/if it all fits together.

comment Crucial C300 256GB SSDs in Dell M605 (or similar) Blade with Perc H700
Really helful answer, thank you Kyle. Am I right in thinking that the wear rates simply mean that the consumer level drives will refuse to write any more data earlier than the enterprise level drives will? Or is there something more sinister/serious to bear in mind when considering using the cheaper disks in a server?
