@TonyHinkle i have run CCleaner and looked in the typical places startup items are located. There is nothing in scheduled tasks that does not belong.

@joeqwerty: yes, I have. Nothing comes up in it. The FTP is more of an annoyance than an issue as I have patched the breach that happened.

Sorry... exim4u allows you to forward email to a different address. I am forwarding email sent to xxx@mydomain.com to xxx@gmail.com. This is done via a setting in the web gui

Also ... this was not a security upgrade. It is a clean install from a rackspace server. Thus, I did not install curl at the start. I did not realize that apt-listchanges was installed and have never really had it before because I normally use CentOS
