comment Sharing simple tasks across roles in ansible?
I agree with Serge Van Ginderachter. It is normal to have many small roles. However, I avoid creating dependencies, unless I need to pass parameters to the included role. Instead, what I would do would be to add postgres-repo to the playbook in site.yml.

comment Need to check whether you need to reboot for a kernel update?
@nicoX You are asking for help because your code does not work, however what you have pasted is not your code. We can't help if you don't show us the code that is failing.

It's not clear what you are asking. Have you created your own apt repository server?

@MarkFeltner As far as I know this is not possible.

comment Hudson GUI cannot run a job with same command that runs fine from the shell
Are you running the same Python in both cases? I'd check if something is different in the environment.

comment Using an Ansible Do-Until loop to manage outdated directories
This is quite complicated and unusual, and I don't think ansible is meant to work that way. Why don't you use some shell commands instead? ls -t1 | tail -n +6 | xargs rm -rf (untested). It's probably fine as it is, though if the directory names have spaces it may need some tricky elaboration.

Ah, I remember now. I decided to switch to btrfs because I wanted the transparent compression. Now: rsnapshot uses hard links. It does not have any option to not use hard links. So the hard links overlap with btrfs's copy-on-write functionality, but I can't do much about that.

@symcbean: You mean that the hard link trick is redundant on btrfs? This is possible, of course, but do you think it may be relevant? Right now I can't recall why I decided to try btrfs.

@MichaelHampton: It's not flat, it contains nested directories. I added the word "recursively" in the short description; I hope this clarifies it.

comment recommended way to configure a centos-7 network interface with static settings via ansible
I think you are wrong in thinking this is a pretty common need. ansible needs to logon from the control computer to the managed computers; this means that the managed computers already have their networking setup, so ansible would normally not be used for setting up networking. Since you are new to ansible, I would recommend, if possible, to postpone investigating this issue and come back to it when you will have some more experience with ansible.

comment How to encrypt binary files in Ansible?
From a discussion in groups.google.com/d/topic/ansible-project/IinZK14FyX4 I conclude that ansible does not support this, and that you have to do some base64 stuff on your own, but that there may be some third party stuff that can make it easier.

comment Ansible: a host appears in more than one group, and both groups have the same tasks in them; any way to run tasks once?
It would be better to give us real examples instead of "role1", "role2" etc., because maybe you should be doing it differently. But it depends on what you are actually trying to achieve.
