Why would you use tape in the days of disk?

comment Unable to start auditd
Thanks, there is no auditd folder in /var/run and I am wary of editing the permissions of the /var/run folder as google assures me they are set for a good reason. Shouldn't it be running as root?

comment Kernel appears to have no modules
I wasn't clear enough, yum reinstall kernel returns Package(s) kernel available, but not installed. so my current kernel version is not in any yum repo. However yum install kernel works and adds the new kernel but doesn't replace the old version even after a reboot.

comment Kernel appears to have no modules
yum reinstall kernel installed a different version and my system isn't picking up on it, still thinks it is the old version. I also think the version it installed doesn't support SMP

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, however I have no idea what I am doing with this and don't want to break everything. (I am very new to linux and the terminal) is there any walkthrough you know of for doing this?

comment Wordpress can't find ssh public and private key pair
Fixed the memory error by throttling wordpress's memory limit. However that didn't solve the issue.

comment Wordpress can't find ssh public and private key pair
Made an interesting discovery in my /var/log/messages when I attempt to SSH from wordpress it recieves the following two errors: Jun 10 12:28:37 s1 suhosin[2174]: ALERT - script tried to increase memory_limit to 268435456 bytes which is above the allowed value (attacker '86.144.116.163', file '/home/nginx/domains/playwithbits/public/wp-admin/admin.php', l$ and Jun 10 12:28:39 s1 sshd[2175]: error: Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ecdsa_key I am unable to create an ecdsa key my system doesn't recognize ecdsa for some reason.

There's nothing in the Nginx logs about this, by module do you mean libssh2? It has no logs AFAIK and wordpress has built in functionality for it so all I get to see is wordpress's error message.

Cheers, I installed the audit daemon however I can't run it type=DAEMON_ABORT msg=audit(1339167282.636:9975): auditd error halt, auid=4294967295 pid=4504 res=failed. Do you have any other suggestions?

@JeffFerland Thanks, although I have tried the full path also to no avail

Thanks for responding. I am using nginx not apache, auditctl returns auditctl: command not found in the terminal. The problem with the tutorials is they don't say whether it is chrooted or not although I have tried with both paths anyway.

comment Nginx massive error.log, am I being DDOSed?
You misunderstood the question, I am not having a problem with the error codes, they are just the reason I checked the logs in the first place, I can handle that. I am asking about the massive number of attempted GET requests for tons of random non-existent pages.

How can I test the site if it is not available to the public? The pages do throw 404, the pages that actually exist are throwing 500 which was the reason I checked the error logs. It does indeed seem to be a googlebot. The rate isn't more than my server can handle it just seems strange, I don't understand what benefit could be had from it.
