comment text compression in postfix
@ptdigas 1) It is my opinion that the network is seldom the problem in mail delivery. Of much more concern is the mail server getting bogged down by the actual delivery mechanics: dead/busy/misconfigured servers, graylisting, wrong/obsolete users or with overquotas etc etc leading to overcrowded queues on busy machines. Which leads to overcrowded I/O on disks/filesystems. Depending on your setup such an SMTP server may also be taxed with virus/spam scanning and what have you.

comment Branch Office Switch Redundancy
It is not clear what your setup is. Do you have two remote switches (2900) at the remote location? If so, how are connected to HQ? Two independent links? Are they connected together?

comment BIND9: Combining key and ACL for allow-update
I believe @Sandman4 is right. What is not clear (and I have not tried it yet) is if we place the key element first would that imply a valid key for the match that will follow? ie a combination of key and address match.

comment Writing a proposal for renovation of university server?
@SvenW I would not put off any "would be" administrator at any stage. After all we all started from somewhere. I consider the questions coming from a new starter but valid. They do make sense and even experienced administrators at some point face them. See what Lucas Kauffman says below.

comment iSCSI storage, partitioning and LVM
We are actually doing both - NetAPP FAS2040 and DELL R510's. My question actually concerns the R510's that run the CentOS OS.
