not true. Could be from apache doing curl to itself.

comment Can I use ZFS to replicate (fast) EC2 instance store to (slow) EBS store?
This is contradicting. Not getting into implementation details, how can a slow storage keep-up replicating a fast one? It can't. Use EBS with S3 snapshots. That's the single most important benefit of using an expensive AWS server, S3 snapshot capability. If you don't want that, just use a cheap VPS from elswhere.

comment How to log changes made in a particular file to syslog
auditd is the way to go since it has kernel bindings. Anything else like a periodic scan, is unreliable because it will miss all changes between runs. You can configure audit parameters with auditctrl. See also serverfault.com/questions/202044/… for auditd-syslog integration.

comment Too Many HTTP Requests from one source
if you want to ban him, you may use fail2ban and enable apache monitoring. TCP keepalive has nothing to do with mitigating new HTTP connections, why do you think this is a TCP issue?.

this doesn't work. even after creating partitions, the whole disk is mounted by the installer, and partitions cannot be used.

comment How to create a custom ISO image in CentOS
@AaronCopley yes, you're probably right. I also found this: github.com/joyent/mi-centos-7 which helped me.

Sorry I don't get it, the boot.iso created that way does not include any of the packages.
