I suspect that on the problematic server there is also something like Zing System Tool which reserves memory upon startup. On the only normal server, ZST allocates 10GB ram, and I can't see any memory-eating process from top. For slabtop, the total size in the output is around 14000K on the problematic server, and 156xxK on the database server.

@DavidSchwartz I need to allocate 85% of the 16GB for ZingVM and it's impossible because 8GB has been used. Also, I've read a lot of pages stating that the used memory is not a problem -- but that just applies to the situation that Linux uses memory for cache.
