@gorrila, I have considered writing a seperate script that only handles the parts that require all user privilages... I understand your concern about BASH but I odn't think it's BASH as much as how BASH is often misused that makes it insecure

comment On Linux, what is a faster way than `find` or `diff -r` to see if something inside a directory has changed?
I believe the difference is that it's an actual compare, so if the ctime was explicitly changed it wont through off the backup schedule

@dennis, IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!, I just had to run command from inside screen (Ctrl-:) ":bufferfile /tmp/screen-exchange" first to set that path as the bufferfile, also putting "bufferfile /tmp/screen-exchange" in my .screenrc works
