Gnome's Nautilus does something similar. Perhaps you can check how it's done there?

comment How to attribute a users password to another in LInux
What are you trying to achieve here? Different users should have different passwords because that allows you to distinguish between them. If more than one user knows the password of a certain user you might as well use a single account.

comment How to attribute a users password to another in LInux
Caveat 2: whenever user A or B changes the password the paswords will not be in sync unless this procedure is repeated. I doubt the OP is looking for something to set the passwords equal just once. You might as well enter the same password twice.

comment operating system installation after installing addition of processor into the second socket
But even when you ahve installed a non-SMP kernel you wouldn't have to reinstall. You would have to install a new SMP-kernel to start using the additional CPU but that's still not as drastic as reinstalling the entire OS. And just to be complete: RHEL and it's derivatives allow hot-adding and removing RAM and CPU. I've seen that done on a virtual system and if the hardware supports it that should be possible to (with an SMP kernel off course).

comment Continue running a task with terminal disconnected?
On RHEL man disown opens BASH_BUILTINS(1) which has a bit more information.

comment Red Hat server minimal install
I am facing the same situation now as well and found that on RHEL5.8 the minimal packages to run xclock with X forwarding are xorg-x11-apps and xorg-x11-xauth. This pulls in several dependencies but this shouldhopefully suffice for a remote graphical install.

comment Error while bringing up eth1
The error message refers to NetworkManager while the commands you use are the older plain network service commands. Are you using the NetworkManager service or the plain network service? check /sbin/chkconfig --list network and /sbin/chkconfig --list NetworkManager. Also please add what user account is used to execute these commands.

comment How to write protect a directory?
@Sandra: try it, and let us know it it worked or not. If you are still unable to delete the directory update your question with the getfacl and ls -dZ output.

comment Disable server access by hostname
What is it you are trying to achieve? If you don't want people to access to access your site at all simply shut down the web server. But I guess that's not what you're after. Please explain. If you want to allow access to (a part of) a website only to specific address you can use the mod_access module.

comment Top being high but not much processors are running on high cpu usage?
Before removing it you'd better check if you are using it or not. I'd suggest to check the webmin website to see if it looks familiar. It is a web based tool to manage your server. Just because it crashed doesn't mean it should be uninstalled per se.

comment LocalHost error
If you get no output it proves that no process is listening on that port. Thus MicroApache isn't running. Check whatever documentation you used to install this (perhaps post the link to it so others can verify it). Also add the output of the go.bat. Perhaps you close the command window after running it? If you run the telnet command I suggested you will most likely receive an error as well, again showing that you haven't actually started anything successfully. Another thing you should do is to check the MicroApache and DokuWiki documentation where the logfiles are written and check those.
