comment Jenkins and HTTPS: Cannot connect to server
This output is the same thing I get on my log.

comment Can't get to Jenkins Server from a particular PC
I can get to the other URL http://buildl02.tcprod.local/svn which is on the same server and using the same Tomcat instant. Why that works and not http://buildl02.tcprod.local/jenkins doesn't is a mystery. IT services says there's no filtering going on. We are beginning to think this is an IE 7 issue. Unfortunately, we can't even upgrade to IE 8 because this is Server 2003. I've asked IT to install Chrome on this box.

Typos. If I could spell, I would have been an English Major.

It didn't download at all. I clicked on the security bar, asked it to download, but got no dialog box. Nothing.

Nope. I get the security bar, I tell it to download anyway, and nothing happens. Interestingly I could install Notepad++, but not Firefox or Chrome. This is a Windows 2003 Server, and I couldn't install IE 8 either.

Yes. It was a typo. Now fixed.

comment Same Apache httpd instant: Same Subversion repository defined two different ways
I know that two people cannot commit at the same time to the same repo, but you said they're "different repositories (formally)". Does that mean two people can commit to at the same time, or is there some internal mechanism in the repository itself that makes it impossible?

Yes, they are different resources according to Apache, but they refer to the same physical repository. What if two people commit a the same, and each on a different base URL. Will that mess up the repository? If won't cause any problems, I'm happy.

comment Is there an issue with too many entries in a directory?
@FalconMomot I have found a blog entry of someone who ran into this very problem. Apparently ext3 file systems cannot handle more than 32K links in a directory. I find this hard to believe - even HFS+ and NTFS can handle more than 32K links per directory.

This may be it. We use ext3 on our Linux directories. If the directory can't have more than 32K, it makes sense to warn on 30K and go critical on 32K.

@ChrisS - I'm not an OS expert. My gut tells me that this alert is useless, but I don't have the expertise to say for sure. Some one added this alert, but we don't know who and why. Do they know something I don't. Is it a good idea to have 32K entries in a single directory? No, but, this is how Jira works. Besides, Jira doesn't sort thru these dirs. It knows the path right to the directory. The question is whether things will crash and burn when there are 32,001 entries. Do we really need this alert?

@kleist All I can do is a restart when this happens. Sometimes I can just get away with reloading the configuration.

comment Apache httpd LDAP integration
Okay, I found a solution. It's not what you recommended, but your explanation and links lead me to this solution. I tried the filtering, but it didn't seem to work. Probably because I didn't have the Require valid-user line.

comment Apache httpd LDAP integration
Thanks. It looks like this is an issue with CollabNet's Subversion package. Previously, I've either used the native package or rolled my own. It looks like the way they've compiled Apache, it forces to use SVN's authz. I'll try the filter to see if it works.

comment Apache httpd LDAP integration
Sorry, missed two commas in the Require ldap-group. I had to edit what I was doing in order to hide proprietary information. (Hint: Password isn't really swordfish). However, the official Apache documentation for Require ldap-group specifically states "Do not surround the group name with quotes". I copied the LDAP group directly from ADExplorer, so I know it's correct.

+1: I was about to ask how to do scp recursively. I forgot about rsync.

On the Mac, it's User and not Username. Probably a BSD vs. Linux thing.
