@Micka, if you have enough RAM, the OS should definitely cache the files in RAM. There should be almost no disk accesses for such a setup.

Given that you only have static files, have you tried nginx alone? Each layer adds complexity and problems on its own. Note that nginx also supports precompressed files (look for gzip_static).

Are you sure this is a dhcp server issue? Couldn't this be an issue of the client misinterpreting the colon (e.g. as in host:filename)?
