Hmm, tried to edit the DispForm, added a DataFormWebPart, the datasource shows the PubStart and PubExp dates, won;t be rendered in XSL though, this is gettign weirder by the minute...

The DispForm uses the ListFormWebPart to display fields with rendermode = display. The in turn Calls the DocumentLibraryForm ControlTemplate from the DefaltTemplates.ascx file. I looked into that file, but it seems it uses the DocumentLibraryFields control to actually render the fields... Not sure where that control gets it's list of controls to render from...

comment What is your experience with launching Sharepoint from a login script?
Are you firing up those apps / services or is windows? I can imagine everyone having things like Acrobat Laucher etc. in there Run registry key. Maybe try to eliminate some of those?

When using the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider, you specifically store your end users in SQL Server. The Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 installation can just be run, use the local "Network Service" account to run your services if you are ABSOLUTELY sure you are going to use Forms based Authentication ONLY. (Sharepoint timer service etc. can only be run as Windows users, the actual users visiting your site(s) can then be authenticated through the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider)
