i've already run which df and it shows me this path : /bin/df when i'm running rpm -qf $(which df) it show me this output: coreutils-5.97-34.el5_8.1 and lastly when i'm running rpm -V $(rpm -qf $(which df)) ,it doesn't show me any output and neither the df command is working

@Tometzky yup..inside job is included but not limited to.there are various thing that need to upgraded(security hole,etc)although the server is not connected to internet.that why we need to update (for example related to kernel).i'm thinking about doing offline updates.it is posibble in RHEL.but i'm not sure whether it is working CentOS

@Tometzky using this method is ok but what if there is no outside internet connection through this server(act as intranet server)?Is there any way to manually add the update?

Yeah..i've also have been thinking to do the same thing like this. anyway seems that the yum-security command is already obsolete in CentOS.there are other people that facing same issues as i am.

I'm using NIS as it is simple and easy to configure.but nevertheless I will try to do some research in LDAP.

i know centos are providing the apache by using yum but the version is not the same with the current (stable release) in the apache official website.so i figure out to install it by binary package rather than relying on centos package repositories.
