VPN Issues when uploading files - MTU issue? It seems to be a problem with the network that I'm connecting FROM (my workplace network). I just tried tethering my machine to my Phone's internet connection, and tried an upload over the VPN, and it was successful. As I don't have control over my workplace network, what can I ask the admins to look at in order to resolve this issue (ie, could it be an MTU setting on the workplace's router?)? |

VPN Issues when uploading files - MTU issue? I tried setting the MTU in the VPN settings to 512, and on my client machine to 512 (using netsh) and I still get the issue when uploading files. Under these new settings, I have to go down to "ping -f -l 484" before I get responses, otherwise just "Packet needs to be fragmented". I have left the router's (where the VPN server resides) MTU at 1500. |

VPN Issues when uploading files - MTU issue? When you say "both sides", where do you mean exactly? I can change it on my client machine, which would be my side, but I can change it on the router and the vpn configuration server side. |

VPN Issues when uploading files - MTU issue? Thanks cjc, it's a very comprehensive answer, but I'm not sure that it helps me. I attempted to translate his ping command to windows, and tried ping -f -l 1472 google.com and get "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.", which according to his answer implies that I don't have an MTU issue. But if I don't have an MTU issue, what could be the cause of this? |
