That is interesting and I was not aware of that. But It seems from what i've been able to determine from event log and the MSRT logs @ %systemroot%\debug\mrt.log that the installation of the new monthly tool is done within 30 minutes and the scan is completed in about 2 additional minutes. The remaining 13 updates then take another 75 minutes. It does seem like the installation of the MSRT update takes a disproportionate amount of time though.

comment After domain rename - will I need to rejoin all users to the new domain?
One thing I discovered is that you must reboot all client computers twice BEFORE you run the final command rendom /clean otherwise it seems rebooting twice does not work. At least that was my experience and seems to be other's as well.

Thanks. I should also point out that out of the 3 or 4 times this has happened. Only one of those has been during Windows updates. The other times were just standard graceful reboots from the OS.

Thank you for your reply. Curious if you can point me to any discussion on this being a common issue? I understand the need to run an offline system file check, but not quite sure I understand deleting C:\Windows\winsxs ? Was there a certain file in WinSXS?
