Not sure what to say here. I work in IT, and like breaking servers so I can fix them and make them less breakable.

comment Some puppet modules are not found when running master/agent but work with puppet apply
This is correct, if it was installed via the module tool (which it was). If installed via tarball, it gets installed as moduleauthor-modulename and you have to rename it, which is why I asked before I answered.

How did you install the module? Was it using the puppet module tool, or did you download the tarball and unpack it into your $modulepath?

comment Proper way to use hiera with puppetlabs-spec-helper?
the workaround did not work. However, since this is something provided by puppetlabs, and puppet 3 will have hiera tightly integrated into it, I have a hard time believing it can't be done. I suspect it is a configuration issue, but I don't know for sure.

I have found a potential workaround from the puppet-users mailing list. I will give an update once I have had a chance to test it, but it looks promising.

comment Wrapping defined types in classes - puppet
Yes, but since you can't use a define directly from an ENC, you'd have to rework things a little to make use of either create_resources or a hash of the users. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with that function.

Updated the answer, so it actually provides an solution now.

You'd have to know what was passed in, so it would be somewhat difficult. It's a shame that puppet doesn't have better iteration in it's language, outside of templates.
