comment win2008 - overide inherited permissions
properties/sharing indicates who can map, properties/security indicates who can read/write. Thanks for the help, this is exactly what I was looking for.

on the g:/ share level perms, I don't want the 2 new users to have write to root, just g:/rw. do I add the new users with write to root directory?

comment wildcard ssl cert. giving error in IE
3 of the 4 virtual hosts reference the same SSLCertificateFile. timecard.domain.com references a dif. path for SSLCertificateFile, but the contents of the cert. are exactly the same. I should change this so they are all the same, but never have.

comment wildcard ssl cert. giving error in IE
i have no way of knowing this due to security restrictions. I did have an offending computer try a different public site, not on our server, that was secured with a COMODO cert. (our wildcard cert. provider) and it worked w/out any errors.

comment openVPN - print to remote client
yes, printer is shared. when mapping to the printer using the wizard, i enter \\10.9.1.2\ and the 2 shared printers are automatically shown. So, just to test, I changed one of the printer share names and tried to map it again using the wizard. I typed in \\19.9.1.2\ and the new share name i edited came up...so the printer shares are def. being broadcast over the VPN

\\10.9.1.2\shareName this is what's used to define the map; tun1 IP not remote winXP computer name, so I wouldn't think WINS is needed?

as a test, i removed ifconfig 10.9.1.5 10.9.1.6 on VPN2 server, replaced with: server 10.9.1.0 255.255.255.0. restarted, then sudo ifconfig shows all adapters!

VPN2client i manually entered IP 10.9.1.6 subnet mask 255.255.255.252 in tap-win32 adapter tcp/ip properties because i have ifconfig-noexec directive, not allowing windows netsh to set tcp/ip properties
