comment Setting up VPN with wired and wireless connection
good question. I'm not quite sure. It does get one though. Perhaps another line in the interfaces file is doing it or could there be another thing doing it? Wicd nor NM is installed.

@symcbean what is the difference between xrdp, tightnvc, and x11vnc?

@laurent thanks for the answer. I gave it a spin. It does work, but it launches another instance of the desktop (lxde). Is there a way to go into the "current" desktop?

comment Possible to connect to VPN (pptp) with a host name
So the fist option sounds good. The second one is intriguing as well. For the second option, would I have to run a local DNS on the server? Could you recommend a good one? How would the clients then register with the local DNS or would that have to be done by hand?

There are three machines total. One Windows machine, which has split tunneling enabled. One ubuntu server that is the PPTP server. And a debian machine, which this question is about. When I do the above changes, I can't connect from the windows machine to the debian machine. How do I print the route tables?

hmm.. when I remove defaultroute or replacedefaultroute or both, I can't connect to the client anymore from another client.
