Using your own UPS is usually a matter of fire code. If you do allow you to add one, it needs to be connected to the EPO.

comment create an image of currently linux installed with ssh?
If /dev/sda (in this example) is mounted, your image will likely be inconsistent. Make sure to umount the device and/or run this command from a rescue boot.

comment DHCP for data center
Fear is never a reason to not do something. An active server should have a static IP. A small number of IPs cut out to be in the DHCP pool for PXE booting is a very nice luxury. But management is key. If you can't measure it you can't manage it, if you can't manage it you shouldn't be running it.

POTS lines do not rely on (local) power, which is an important consideration.

comment 10 SFF in 1U case, identify please
People will attempt to resell anything.. The Poweredge C class is pretty interesting. It came out of the DCS group. They aren't encumbered by the DRAC nor did they originally even support Windows installations! They use Intel NICs and support 1333Mhz RAM (unlike the standard Poweredge line.) You can send me an email if you'd like a contact at Dell that can get you more info.
