comment File Sharing on Windows Server to Mac OS X clients
@thaKAT007 - That's only for direct access to an NTFS drive (as in directly plugged in). A share means that so long as the server can read/write to it you're fine. (Obviously some file system limitations eg. 4GB file size on FAT32 are always there)

It should be additionally noted that only Mac OS X Server 10.5 and later is permitted to be virtualized per the EULA.

comment Why can I not access VMware Server on port 8333?
Are you running a firewall that blocks port 8333? Can you ping the server in question? And just in case: Is the server running?

comment What are the benefits of XServe hardware and Mac OS X Server?
1) Video cards are installed by default now and have been for a while and 2) They have DVD-RW drives now and always have. They now use a slot loading. Only the original Xserve had a tray loading. I am not a fan of the first gen Xserves.

comment Make DVD image in Mac OS X without third-party tools?
It's always worked for me with a CSS encoded DVD - as it reads the data on the DVD and doesn't care about the video encryption. You still needed to have somethin DeCSS the video however.

The good news is that OWA in Exchange 2010 Beta is the same no matter what browser you're using.

Well that explains a lot - I didn't even consider your backup path (other than it was legal and ended in a '/') - Big oops on my part.

comment Write-only access that can see the files present?
FWIW, ACLs are not unique to Mac OS X - but their specific implementation is. It's very similar to that seen on other *NIX systems but you use different tools.

comment How do I avoid the hostname Macintosh-2?
So when your hostname is "jared-mac" it is reverting to "Macintosh-#" - even if the hostname of the other Mac is not the same?

comment How do I avoid the hostname Macintosh-2?
Did you try pressing the Edit... button underneath it? Occasionally the Computer Name and Hostname don't match requiring you to adjust it there as well.

Does it give you a specific error or just "shakes" the loginwindow saying you entered something invalid?
