comment Overnight SQL Server Full Backup taking 4x longer, everything else slower, RAID problem?
try watching 'current disk queue'. This is a good number to trend over time (in healthy conditions) just for these cases. Not knowing your environment at all, a size of 130 sounds very high. I have a sql server with over 5,000 very active databases on it that goes no higher than 10 and mostly sits at 1. I would bring this number to Rackspace's attention.

Can you add to your problem description, mentioning if you are using any sort of load balancer or reverse proxy in front of IIS? If so, what kind?

comment Server Density or Scout-like Services for Windows?
Thank you very much for the recommendation - I should have been more specific about the size of the environment, as it will be somewhere around a dozen machines to begin with. I'm trying to keep support infrastructure as lean as possible for this project, so something like Server Density will probably work better. Thanks again, though. I'll keep this in mind for our larger environments.
