Flood attacks can happen on ports where nothing is listening and their only aim is to flood the upstream channel so there is no access to the server, while at the same time the server is operating normally(which is not the case if it's a DDOS).

Actually this is being handled easily by this configuration, you will see the domain requested in the browser with the correct root, and if you access an alias of that domain you'll also the the alias name while the document root will be get from the db mapping.

also add the certificate, key and if needed ca certificate for each such subdomain created in their respective configuration in such case. That should do the workaround.
