I ask some stupid questions because I'm a self-taught person who feels you should never be afraid to ask a question. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

I found the issue. OpenVZ needs to be configured as SNAT and not Masquarade in the firewall rules!

output is set to accept. I added the firewall rules to the question though.

The problem is not with IP forwarding I think, as the server interface itself can't reach Internet (as the first ping example shows). But yes, IP forwarding is enabled.

comment MySQL demon already running with same unix socket
There was no process using it, but removing the file fixed the issue. I didn't know it was possible to do that. If upon next reboot this happens again I'll investigate some more. Thanks.

comment Apache2 doesn't load module mod_mono - CentOS 6
That was it. During the configuration of mod_mono, the mod_mono.conf file is put under /conf/, so I assumed it was supposed to be there. Copying the file to /conf.d/ fixed this. Doh!

comment CentOS 6 Mono and Apache
The error concerning the Method not found was fixed by pointing the lib path from /opt/mono/lib/mono/4.0/mod-mono-server4.exe to /opt/mono/lib/mono/4.5/mod-mono-server4.exe. Mod-mono-server4.exe also had to be moved to the 4.5 lib directory. However the problem with the directory not being found is still happening and I have no idea why. Does mod-mono-server run as a different user than apache?
