Note that these days you need to specify btrfs as the backing store when you run lxc-create or lxc-clone will give you a overlayfs instead.

Note that this question (and its answers dated back in 2009). All protects have improved dramatically since then. I'd suggest tabulating your requirement in a table and do the research/scoring on your own to narrow down choices. I did and it worked for me everytime!
