thanks @chris. this worked for me. However, could you please clarify the implications of the first vhost declaration being the default part? I didn't quite get that.

i DID setup the webserver on my EC2 instance.......... I am trying to figure out how to connect my GoDaddy domain name with EC2 instances which is ALREADY serving my pages globally via elastic IP

by the noteworthy point you mentioned, i understand it's best to re-write the A records to point to my Elastic IP. But the problem is, the root folder of my website is in a subdirectory of my AWS instance. Is there anyway i can make this work?

changed 127.0.0.1 to 1.2.3.4 as 127.0.0.1 has a special meaning in HTTP
