comment Since Upgrading NFS and Ubuntu to 14.04, All NFS Mounts Are Failing
try to run rpc.gssd by hand. On RHEL systems you need additionally SECURE_NFS="yes". May be it's not required for ubuntu as well.

Do you have user ftp on the client host?

comment NFSv4 idmapd ignores Nobody-User
The problem is that your nfs server can't map uid 107 to a valid name and already sends 'nobody'.

comment Is there a way to see what files have been added or changed after a certain time/date?
for case 'a', you can use 'find -ctime -mtime'. Generally, you can enable audit to watch the changes: cyberciti.biz/tips/…

comment NFS client requests file one at a time when listing directory
I am afraid, the metadata operations with any network file system is a pain over high latency connections. But I am not a samba expert.

comment NFS client requests file one at a time when listing directory
nfs4 can't help here. on high latency connections, try more aggressive caching options: check acregmax and acdirmax mount options.

comment Single process blocks NFS mount on entire node
Linux's nfs client uses only a single connection to the server and doesn't send a new request as long as reply for last one not arrived. You can try to mount with smaller rsize/wsize and and shorter timeout.

comment Linux NFS - set default user for new files on nfs share
If you want to see the same files uid/gids on client and server, then client ans server must use the same uids and gids or the same names for users and groups. In once case you need ud based mapping, in another - principal based.

comment Linux NFS - set default user for new files on nfs share
latest kernels in RHEL6 use numeric values over the wire instead of strings. To change the behavior you need to "echo N > /sys/module/nfs/parameters/nfs4_disable_idmapping" and clean idmap change with "nfsidmap -c"

comment Confirm IPTables firewall settings for NFS v4 server?
some older clients still query portmap with UDP evevn if tcp is specified as a mount option.
