Its a domain and I named the zone as dns.com as well. Yes it is AD-integrated.

comment NTP not syncing, only syncs on service restart
Could you add the contents of /etc/ntp.conf file here?

comment NTP syncs with local timeserver but not NTP pool servers
ntpd is capable of all these functions: 1. syncing the time which will bring you gradually up to date by using incremental time steps 2. adjust the system time dramatically causing disruption or gradually without disrupting time sensitive applications by udsing the appropriate keywords in the .conf file (such as tinker, etc). In view of these, your answer is not very helpful. But thank you nevertheless.

comment NTP syncs with local timeserver but not NTP pool servers
It sets the time from January 1, 1970 to the present date with the local NTP server. It does not sync at all with the pool NTP servers. If it was a problem with the way NTP was configured it shouldn't have worked with any NTP servers.

comment NTP syncs with local timeserver but not NTP pool servers
@Ladadadada: I am using ntpd with the -g and -n flags to ensure that ntpd does not quit due to panic thresholds.

comment Is there any way to make ntpd to iteratively consult the server addresses given in the ntp.conf file?
By giving a sequential initial poll I can override the behaviour of ntpd by which it connects to the lowest stratum. I could give a server that is much higher in terms of the stratum and it would be queried first rather than the present approach.
