Software developer at yWorks GmbH.

Usually I'll answer questions here about Java, C#, PowerShell, batch files, random numbers, regular expressions and Unicode. At work I primarily deal with C++, C#, PHP and a few other things.

My interests are mostly HCI, Interaction Design and UX. Recently I18n joined that list as well. That does not mean I have profound knowledge in either of those fields, just that I am interested in them.

Note: People contacting me outside SO/SE is fine, but for discussing their own questions or answers SO already provides a mechanism, namely edits and comments. So please use those things first.
I do hang around on Freenode as Hypftier, though.

Also note that if you have a 64-bit OS you need to set the execution policy for both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of PowerShell.

comment Using systeminfo to get the OS Name
You might want to use wmic os instead of systeminfo which is much faster (and systeminfo probably uses WMI anyway).

comment How to revert the compressed attribute on files in Windows for a whole drive
You can iterate over files and directories with the for command. No need for find or xargs there. You can check in the for loop whether it's a directory (proven to be more robust than iterating over the output of dir which has severe problems when facing Unicode names with Raster fonts enabled for the console window).

comment Windows Server 2008 - Calling FTP from .CMD - Pass a parameter to an FTP file?
Only works in your locale. For me _-0_-2 is inserted in place of the date. Be very careful with dates in batch files.

comment How to write a dos batch script to create a folder structure?
On Windows you can usually (because command extensions are enabled by default) leave out creating the Source and Source\Trunk directories since intermediate directories are automatically created. Ah well, it can't be DOS anyway ... I hate when people msitag their questions -.-

comment Windows command prompt: how to get the count of all files in current directory?
dir | findstr File(s). Just because it isn't named grep doesn't mean you can't.

Still unnecessary.

Using files for results is not the smartest idea. What do you do if the current directory is not writable by you?

@lorenz: Any reason why dir > file shouldn't work in Windows? Output redirection isn't exactly magic, you know.

comment Windows command prompt: how to get the count of all files in current directory?
“Seems to” is the correct word here. (1) This is off by one in any case, since the dir command includes a line with a colon in it which is not a file. (2) This relies on the time format to include a colon, which doesn't necessarily have to be so. (3) It relies on the number format not including a colon, which also doesn't necessarily have to be so. Besides, going through a file here is unnecessary and won't work if you don't have write access—bad idea.
