comment Task Scheduler only killing cmd.exe but not its child processes
If that is the case, why would Task scheduler ending cmd.exe also end the other .exe processes in my test cases?

comment Bandwidth planning for TCP/IP and Ethernet overhead
yes different traffic type would result in different overhead percentages, so it would be nice to see if anybody's done some survey to estimate the ratio based on traffic/app type. Additionally, any simple process to measure this for one's own apps?

comment Any gotchas for using multiple SMTP servers for a single domain?
MX records are to tell the world where to deliver email destined for one's domain name - Incoming. Kyle's question is about multiple SMTP serverrs for outgoing delivery.

Remember the more disks one buys, the more backup-and-recovery strategies need to be applied for each disk.

comment Is Round-Robin DNS “good enough” for load balancing static content?
yeap i know what NLB does. I'm recommending that over DNS RR because a server failure won't cripple half the users.

comment Complete infrastructure capacity planning exercise
I bought the book and found it decent; although it was rather thin for its price and lacking a sense of building new infrastructure for new projects in the enterprise.

Getting a down-vote means disagreement. Getting an up-vote means agreement. It is fundamental mechanics for these sites. If you gladly accept up-votes, you ought to gladly accept down-votes in view that not everybody shares your opinions.

Good remembrance on the "problem solver"; a lot of folks i meet just want an instruction booklet that tells them what to do for every possibly conceivable problem. They don't want to think about what's happening; just gimme the Step 1-to-23 to resolve this issue.

In my experience, most admins just continue to overload on manual clicks, and take longer than ever to complete their work. :-) I think there are different categories of laziness, some are lazy to think and just wanna click brainlessly; some are lazy to click and think to reduce that.

The main effect is admins wasting their time performing repeated manual chores on multiple machines - longer turnarounds - which can impact our development schedule (always never enough).

I don't script just because i "like it". I script because it saves_me_time in the long run. One whole week to setup a server, or use scripts to configure it in one day. You decide.

My point is all these "horrible tasks" they'd still rather do them manually. :-)
