it was changed in rfc1123 tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1123#page-13 One aspect of host name syntax is hereby changed: the restriction on the first character is relaxed to allow either a letter or a digit. Host software MUST support this more liberal syntax.

You can try this two online scanners sucuri.net and unmaskparasites.com, and if you have root access, you can run maldet and clamscan on server to scan the site root folder.

So Ubuntu is your domain controller? Is it your only domain controller? You should add that data to the original question, the more info you put in the question the more likely you will get an resolution to the problem

Click on Detail, do you get this message when you click it "The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help.", it is possible that the server share for the profile isn't accessible by DNS, or that the users don't have rights to the share. What is you Domain Controller is it Ubuntu with SAMBA, what is the Ubuntu server you mentioned in the question?
