thankyou for you reply... can you explain a touch more... currently in the ELB health check I'm pointing it at /index.html. Do you mean point the health checks at say '/elb-status' and the add the above server block? is that it? does the /elb-status url need to exist? thx again

ok I've add a record for both now - the root datingjapan.co is aliased to the EBL address and the www.datingjapan.co is aliased to datingjapan.co. Is this ok?

actually its not a duplicate - if you read it more closly - the inital was about where to place the command and this was having trouble with it not running on startup... best read closer there boys...
