Yes, you're right, L2 bridging would be more applicable of the two choices.

comment Routing domain on lan
Yes, unless there are VRF's or other mechanisms for handling multiple routing tables, the traffic should be routed directly to the DMZ server by the CPE router. The route path might contain the outside ip address of the router though, and that might cause confusion.

comment iptables rule on INPUT between 2 ethernet cards on the same host
Of course I did. Logging indicates the packet travels the following chains: mangle-OUTPUT, nat-OUTPUT, OUTPUT, mangle-POSTROUTING, POSTROUTING. After this point something strange happens, as the source address changes to the virtual environment host ip, something I really don't understand, and which must be because of the virtual environment I'm using. Apparently my possibilities to debug this further end here.

@HrvojeĊ poljar - A ping between interfaces ping xx.xx.xx.xx -I other_interface doesn't hit in INPUT chain. A ping without the interface definition does (when the source is the interface being pinged). @user1495181 - Did you try my example?

comment Rewrite 2 different directories with htaccess?
So you want two additional things: 1) All other urls (other than /webroot/www and /components/.../www) to result in 404 HTTP Not found? 2) /webroot/www should also redirect like /? Is this really intended?
