comment Why doesn't VSphere show VMWare Tools as installed?
Ended up doing a VMWare-Tools install process, but rebooting the server at the point in the script when it finishes uninstalling, but before it does the re-install (on the guess that maybe a regular uninstall was ineffective). Then I installed Open-VM-Tools and enabled it as a service. Was immediately recognized by WUG and VSphere.

Well, my results are the same with open-vm-tools. Installs, says it's running, but is not detected by VSphere.

comment How to determine which disk failed in a FreeNAS / ZFS setup
For the original question, "glabel status" is the critical portion. That will allow you to figure out the mapping between the wacky IDs and the physical.

comment How to determine which disk failed in a FreeNAS / ZFS setup
Chris S is incorrect. The drives do not always appear in the order the card provides. For example, our "da7" appears second in the list of 8 drives... Also, the zpool status merely gives the labels and not the actual disks.

comment How to switch between TLS 1.0 and SSL 3.0 at Java/JRE level?
I can't think of any way to do it globally for the entire JVM. Individual applications (either a Java app itself, or Java container such as Tomcat) are free to select with protocols they will or will not support (with the exception of ones that are eventually removed from the JVM completely).

comment How do I solve the Alfresco LDAP “login by e-mail address” quandry?
Ouch, bad news. Taking out that passthru method in the chain breaks Alfresco hard. The title bar is missing on login and it flings a screen full of "HTTP 500 internal server error - IMAP" errors. I put the passthru method back in and it's back up and running again.

I'll try removing it. Other than our domain specific modifications, this config section is straight copy out of instructions found on-line for connecting Alfresco to AD. There could be many things wrong with it that I'm not aware of. :-)
