I'm an old open-source independent hacker,

concerned about concepts of ethical hacking, teaching and sharing.

I like to play with shell, perl, lisp (sometime), sed and lot of other languages/environments.

Co-system administrator in several configurations, after various SMEs, I like to sometimes take time to focus on methods that I can improve or re-create (for example to change the level of abstraction).

In this, surfing on differents StackExchange's sites is a good way to boost my inspiration!

You may have to use --numeric-owner option before making tarball to ensure owner and groups won't change. ssh ouser@oserver tar -zcplC /src_path --numeric-owner . | tar -zxpC /dst_path

comment RAID 1E with ZFS
I was wrong: following this schema, 27 -> 9 -> 3 -> =4.5 x 1 disk. It was a joke as this is clearly overkill (with this, each block of data would exist on 6 different physical disk): There are redundant/concurrent technologies: hw raid, soft raid and Zfs...

comment RAID 1E with ZFS
Yes! With 27 physical disk, you may build 9 raid 1E using HW-Raid controlers, than you could build 3 Linux MD Raid-1e, useable as 3 physical devices for ZFS, from where you may use copies=2 to be able to use 1.5x size of 1 disk... data would be redundants!

comment Possible to build a RAID 1 with only one drive with LSI 9260-4i?
Under Linux MD, you could build a degraded array than repair them lather: mdadm --create md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda1 "missing". But I agree with @Adrian, this has nothing to do there...

comment LVM, Soft RAID1, and Replication?
Remember: the more are technologies involved, the more chance is to see bug or failure in one of each stacked system... border effect and other funny/interesting things! Keep your backups up to date!!!
