comment OOM despite available memory (cache)
I've run across this situation on a server which does have swap, and after saturating available memory+swap the OOM killer was used instead of the kernel reclaiming "cached" memory, which was obviously somehow locked. I never resolved the issue, but @Yang's original question is not answered here.

comment Batch Query Dell Service Tags
@Daniel this web service & example script is the best solution IMO, and probably not well known. You should repost it as a proper answer, I'll +1 it!

comment dell power connect 3524 switch SNMP port mapping
I have several PowerConnect 3548 switches all very busy, and I don't see this behavior. I actually didn't know you could retrieve this data over SNMP although I can see the application for it. I'd suspect it's a bug and if you have support on your device, report the bug to Dell; if not, post what results you're seeing here so we can at least learn from it. Finally, upgrade your firmware, Dell has fixed several bugs between 2009 and 2012 on these switches, one of which took my network down last week.

comment Is it possible to include switches in traceroute hops?
Spot on. A device only shows up on traceroute when the forwarding is done by routing across subnets. One way to identify a switch that could be made to show up on your traceroute is one that can operate routing protocols such as OSPF.

comment Alternative to Dell's iDRAC?
One thing I've discovered with my Raritan and Lantronix KVMoIPs is that the virtual media is limited to ~700M images. Fine for a smaller install media like a Linux netinstall image, but has proven a barrier for remote Windows installs where source media is DVD size. I haven't yet tried DVD images with any of my DRACs.
