mmm...delicious cheese, oh and I design and build large video-on-demand systems, but let's get back to the cheese...

comment Difference between ECU and virtual cloud based hosting
We HATE shill accounts here - What you've actually done here is ensure that 10,000 of your potential customers suddenly despise you and will never use you - bravo

comment Replacing failed drive on a ESXi host
So each disk is it's own datastore? if so can't you just Storage-vMotion the VMs off the failing disk onto good ones, replace the disk, rebuild the datastore and move them back?

comment Possible to cascade HP StorageWorks P4300 G2?
Yes absolutely - obviously that'll wipe and break their current data and functionality but you could put something like glusterfs on them and perhaps achieve something close to what you want.

You don't get to pick exact numbers (60,44 etc), they go off base-2 multiple boundaries (4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 etc.)

Please read our help files before posting again, when you sign up to this site we make it VERY clear what and who this site is for and also what and who it's NOT for - this kind of 'question' falls firmly into the latter.

Please read our help pages before posting again, we've spent the last five years trying to make them very clear about what this site is and isn't for but people just ignore it.

comment How many users on a Mac Mini Server?
Being too broad was just the reason with the most votes to close - there are many more problems here - please read our help pages to see what this site IS for and what it ISN'T - we've tried really hard over half a decade to make this obvious to new users but seem to be failing still.

comment Placement of OS and SQL files
See I'd create on bit 'all disk' R10 and just carve the various LUNs out of that, I'm really not convinced the difference in performance between that and the 'multi-R1' setup would be much if anything. That said I'd make sure any backup LUNs were on a different array altogether and personally I like to split my logs, data and backup all onto different arrays but that's me.

comment Potential pitfalls associated with securely deleting SSD disks
Just burn them, seriously, if security is the most important just destroy them with fire, SSDs are comparatively cheap these days - it's the only way to be sure :)

comment How can I connect two machine's networks using a software approach?
It's just more of a case that it doesn't sound like it was written by a sysadmin, but it was well written, just not what we expect is all. You will get answers though - but most people here will just be thinking 'he needs it routed properly - oh and sort out the addressing' :) I'm an ex-Manc btw, hiya!

comment FreeBSD 9.2 networking issues on latest VMWare ESXi, any workarounds?
It is a supported combination, did you update the vmtools inside your VMs? this may work but could reenumerate your ports.
