Can you clarify please; how many hosts, how many guests?

I don't believe that R5 is more or less easy to setup than R10 but it does give the best space utilisation ratio for arrays it can support. The penalty is of course write performance under load where it can be hugely beneficial moving to R1 or R10.

comment External USB Fingerprint Reader for Pre-boot Authentication for Dell Laptop
Microsoft used to sell one, Lenovo do too but you really need the BIOS on your machines to play ball and given the one I suggested is sold as an accessory for your specific machine and pointedly says it supports pre-boot I think you'll struggle finding anything else that works as needed and is much cheaper.

seriously, can you please tell us the version of Windows you're running, I'm going to vote to close if you continue to refuse to provide this most simple of details after so many requests.

comment Recover from hosed server that was the sole DHCP Server
Kyle, I'd say that recovery would leave it in place myself, besides even if it doesn't you're no further back, give it a try - how dead is the server?

still nothing from you about operating system, when you completed the 'ask question' form it said 'provide details', not 'provide the very least possible to form a sentence' - people answer these questions because they can or want to, not out of obligation - put some effort into it yourself!

good point, if you have a wide enough IP range (say 200 IPs for 100 clients) then you could start the new scope at 101 assuming that the existing users are 1-100 and when everyone's within 101-200 then open up the scope back to 1-200 and they'll migrate to the larger scope. Of course if you're tight on IP addresses that's of no use sorry.
