If you have two locations and you lose both then you've probably also lost your backups. Most of this answer is an argument for replication across more than two sites, not an argument in favour of backing up.

Yes, of course. That's exactly what I say in my answer. Two two node clusters implies 4 servers. Each pair of servers using the same disks. You therefore have two sets of disks, each set of disks has one database. However, one cluster, that is 2 nodes / 2 servers accesses one set of disks.
