comment Do not send “SPAM FROM LOCAL” messages for mails relayed to spam_lovers
Thanks for your answer! I am currently using the following as a workaround: @bypass_spam_checks_maps = ([ qw( spam.spamcop.net ) ]); and @bypass_virus_checks_maps = ([ qw( spam.spamcop.net ) ]);

comment How to determine if I'm logged in via SSH?
The question appears to be more related to extract it from who am i, so that you can determine from there if you're SSHing or not. This works: hostname=$(who am i | cut -f2 -d\( | cut -f1 -d:)

comment Using ctrl-arrow keys with PuTTY and screen
However, I am getting ^[[1;5A for Ctrl-Up, which appears to be more correct, according to code.google.com/p/mintty/wiki/Keycodes#Cursor_keys

Wow, mintty is great - have been looking for a decent terminal emulator for Windows for some time now. Thanks for that.

comment iptables nat: Handle OUTPUT chain via PREROUTING chain / forward from OUTPUT to PREROUTING
Yes, my main concern is to reduce duplication of logic ("port X should be handled by internal address Y"). Adding an extra chain does not make it much simpler AFAICS. I was just looking for a simplification, but apparently that's not possible here (using iptables alone).

comment OpenVZ: limit number of cpu cores per VE
This does not work with the newer kernels (2.6.32, used in Debian) currently. The same applies to "cpulimit" (documented at wiki.openvz.org/Resource_shortage#cpulimit).
