The object would be an additional db record. The computations will most likely require a lot of lookups (so mainly reads). I still think the local servers are a good idea because it allows me to move all my computationally intensive processes to essentially free servers. Also I can afford for these services to go down and not affect the users experience as long as they're not down for more then several hours. That's why I want all the public facing services to be separate and on EC2 so no matter what they stay up and everything appears to be fine to the end user. Hope thats enough extra info.

I'm pretty new to this stuff so checking the output of those two didn't do me a whole lot. Here is the output of netstat -nr: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 and when I ran iptables-save | less it was just a blanks screen... I never setup iptables so maybe that's my problem. Any guidance in what I should do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
