Novice Windows batch scripter, it takes me a long time but I'm lazy so I try to script a lot of things. Had to learn VBS, WMI, and ADSI recently.

comment Issue with temp files created in c:\users\temp.DOMAIN.00x
You mentioned both that this is a server share and that it's a SharePoint server. You also mentioned Excel. Where are the file(s) available, on a UNC share, DFS, or SharePoint? Also, the temp location specified is actually a temp profile being created or used. Which account owns and/or creates the temp file(s) in question? One more question: will multiple users connect to the Excel file at same time? If so, will they make changes?

comment openvpn: connection established, can't ping server tun interface (debian server, windows & os x clients)
can you post and accept answer to this - and possibly use it to point to your new question? That way this won't show up as unanswered any more when part of the problem was corruption.

comment WMI Impersonation levels within vbscript / ASP code
what does the WMI and other logs say? It might be trying to run the WMI script with the current user's account, which would only work for admins

comment User can not access network printers with Windows 7 connected to Windows 2008 R2
Interesting issue. Since it's solved by reinstalling the OS to remove the virus (which caused the issue), I recommend you create an answer to this question with the info in "Edit" you provided above. It will help others to solve their similar problem, and prevent those looking for open questions from stumbling on this. Congrats on solving it!

silly question, but you mention "local user" - are they not a domain user?

comment Get ALL certificates installed in a Windows 2003 box
Open a command prompt at the root of the drive with the certs and type 'dir *.cer .pk7 /s' without the quotes, and replacing/adding filetypes as needed.

Suggest building a new XP box to test if it's the same as the current XP behaviour. Also ask the computer "would you like to play a game? How about a nice game of chess?" ;-D
