comment Wordpress : Shift from local MySQL to Amazon RDS Mysql?
thank you the second article solved my problem . The main thing i was concerned for was that is there a risk that my website might break while porting to rds but as it turns out using command line i can avoid that risk and as soon as dabase is exported to rds all i have to do is change database details to the ones of rds in wp-config and i am good to go :) thanks

comment EC2 Ubuntu with WordPress can't connect to RDS
i was using AWS singapore region and due to some internal network problems i couldnt connect to RDS and even on using the correct key pair i was not getting permission to log into ec2 instance . As a result i couldnt use your requested commands (Sorry About That) So i tried using the AWS Virginia region and everything went great . I followed exact same steps as i did in singapre region so i sum it up to be a internal network problem within AWS singapore and hence you should avoid AWS singapore for now.

Thank You for the response but i am not that good in linux so most of what you said got over my head . Can you please elaborate it a little in noob language? Are you saying that changing to amazon nameservers in resolv.conf can be the solution? P.S. with the help of google search related to your answer i could figure out that rds problem that i am facing can be because of some dns settings in resolv.conf but other than that i dont know what to change and how to change it

comment Wordpress Ubuntu 12.04 : Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads?
Solved : i found out one small correction ... instead of changing ownership only uploads folder change the owership of the directly in which wordpress files reside to www-data (or whatever user apache/php runs on) (for more info check below links chrisabernethy.com/why-wordpress-asks-connection-info stackoverflow.com/questions/2509334/…

i used this to uninstall any previous mysql components sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-client mysql-server . then i ran the command specified in the andswer that is apt-get install php5-mysql . then i restarted apache using this /etc/init.d/apache2 restart and now its working . P.S. there is no mysql server installed :) time to bring the RDS onboard !
