I don't trust users. I just wanted to know what reasons would require the use of SSL in in house servers.

Don't authorization mechanisms provide people from accessing unauthorized parts of the application? And also does it not require some kind of software to view unencrypted data, which would anyway be prevented from being installed on those servers?
