It's connected with a TI USB 3410 Serial->USB adapter, and won't work when directly connected with serial cable. TI USB 3410 doesn't work in Linux I think.

I'm using a CDMA Fixed Wireless Terminal for internet connectivity, which probably won't work with anything except Windows. That's why I have to keep using the Windows PC as gateway.
