.NET developer, insanely obsessed with security.
All this time thinking about whether or not you could, you never stopped to think about whether or not you should.

Mismatch between selected .NET version in drop-down and what's displayed below Thank you. @Falcon Momot's answer actually fixed us, so I didn't even have a chance to try your suggestions, but I do appreciate the effort. |

IIS6 error“The handle is invalid” when closing the IIS Manager mmc Thank you! I'm not sure that this will help either, but it's something I hadn't considered and is good to know. |

What happens to running applications of .net 3.0 while upgrade happens to .net 4.0? It depends on if someone visits a page in a .NET 2.0 - 3.5 website and a .NET4.0 website while they are running in the same application pool. If that happens, all applications will crash and you'll get event log entries explaining why. |

IIS6 error“The handle is invalid” when closing the IIS Manager mmc I thought I had it - I restored the IIS Metabase to the original install date, and the errors went away - until I got the SSL Cert installed. Then I started getting errors again. |

IIS6 error“The handle is invalid” when closing the IIS Manager mmc I hadn't until you posted them, but nothing in those applies. The permissions are set properly. (I checked, which is why it took so long to reply.) |

IIS6 error“The handle is invalid” when closing the IIS Manager mmc @David George - I suppose it's possible, but we have never had errors in any of the ASP.NET web apps on the server. This error has been coming up for a few years, and as I've said until today it's only been a minor annoyance. Other than this error, these servers give us no issues at all. |

IIS6 error“The handle is invalid” when closing the IIS Manager mmc It was only an annoyance to me as well, up until today. I got it after attempting to set IP restrictions on a web app, and now NOTHING can access it, and any attempt to save the restrictions results in the error. - but thanks for commenting. |

Can't Access Database when Logged in As SA If you're logged in as sa and running it, then no you can't. Take a look at the last two words in your error. You can't provide permissions to yourself. That said, I modified my answer because I did think of a coupole of non-permissions possibilities, but I still think this should be on ServerFault.com. |
