I am the co-founder and CTO of EnergyScoreCards.com, a startup focused on energy efficiency software for buildings. My language of choice is Groovy and Grails as the web framework.

Prior to my current gig, I was the Director of Technical Services for Alfresco, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management company. I worked with Alfresco’s enterprise and OEM customers helping them build content-oriented solutions in Social Computing / Enterprise 2.0 space.

My expertise is mostly in Java and Enterprise Web Applications, although I have done a decent amount of .NET and SharePoint 2007 work in a past life.

I am active in the New York City tech community, and enjoy public speaking. Over the past few years, I have given numerous talks to local user groups and national conferences.

comment OS-agnostic way to set permissions and encrypt files
Javier - I used to work for Alfresco before starting my own thing. It's a solid technology - I'd suggest you try Labs 3 Stable. To answer your question - there is no data encryption out of the box, although it could be easily customized to do encryption, and I think some third-party extensions exist.
