Another approach to those suggested so far, is to use the feature that cron emails the user who is running the job, so make another user just for this job, and forward its emails to you.

comment How can I prevent Virtualmin from storing passwords in cleartext?
this is an option when you install/setup, but by enabling it you loose the ability to view the servers password. i like this as my passwords are randomly generated and not used anywhere else, therefore no loss if compromised.
