Are you sure about this? Some other posts around here seem to suggest that major manufacturers support a common RAID metadata format. So deleting any previous array on the new controller and just inserting the old driver into the new controller should make it detect the array and logical drives and configure itself automatically.

I have had the same problem and it seemed to have been in conjunction with gnome-settings-daemon which was using one CPU 100% of the time. Logging out and back in seemed to have solved this. No logs were too big or being constantly updated. Biggest log was 2 MB and steady.
